GERTRUDE
Giclee (pastel)
2004
8" X 11"
edition 400

If a face ever spoke a thousand words, this one does. Gertrude lives by herself but she is not alone. Her ninety-three years on this earth continue to live very clearly in her mind and keep her company. Although she never knew slavery personally, she lived through plenty tough times in the first half of 20th Century America, all the while maintaining her inward beauty and dignity and avoiding bitterness.
